Who We Are
Sondhi Trading Limited (STL) was established in 1996 by the Directors and Shareholders of Mbaraki Port Warehouses (MPW). MPW is a logistics service provider established in 1964 which owns and operates strategically located warehouses in the vibrant port of Mombasa. Trading and logistics are interconnected. It is the synergy between these two companies which created the opportunity for STL to become a top ten ranked exporter of Kenya coffee.
STL remains one of the few privately owned coffee exporters in Kenya and plays a significant role in the coffee industry. JAY SONDHI, the managing director of STL continues to serve as a committee member of The Kenya Coffee Traders Association and has done so since its inception in 2001. JAY SONDHI is the only three-time Chairman of the association. STL is also a buyer member of the East African Tea Trade Association and supplies tea to customers located in tea consuming countries. STL is both ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and ISO Food Safety Management Systems certified. STL is also Rainforest Alliance certified.
Sondhi Trading Limited has maintained its position as a top 10 coffee exporter for more than two decades. Sondhi Trading Limited’s reputation enables it to export Kenyan coffee to some of the most venerable brands in continental Europe and the USA.
Proximity to the Port of Mombasa
We are located on Mombasa Island in Liwatoni one and a half km from the Port and in Changamwe, on the West mainland, about two and a half km from the Port.
We operate our own warehouses
The warehouses are fully owned by Mbaraki Port Warehouses (MPW) the mother company.
Logistical advantage over our competitors
MPW owns strategically located warehouses in the Port of Mombasa, which enable STL to prepare and deliver coffee to oceangoing vessels sailing to countries in Europe, North America, Middle East, Far East and South Africa.
